Just a Brief background on where we came from and why we started.

Growing up my first inspiration was always my Mother, coming over from Taiwan to find a better life for me and my Family, part of her culture was heavily involved in food and being a gracious host. I spent many holidays with the other side of my family in Italy, where they have very similar rich traditions surrounding food, family and friends around for dinner.

Luckily for me my Mum (from Taiwan) and my Uncle (from Italy) are both very talented cooks, having a naturally curious mind I would always ask questions about what we were having for dinner and how to make it. I would always think to myself “This is so good why isn’t there anywhere that sells food like this!” so I decided to answer my own question.

I have been in the food industry for over 12 years now and have been a chef for 10 of those years, starting like most washing dishes and preparing deserts in a high-end pub, I moved on to a Taiwanese restaurant learning from my Mum and her Friends for years. Since then I have worked in a variety of roles from street food stands and Restaurants to Wedding catering and events at places like Rolls Royce with some amazing chefs soaking up everything I could.

Among all that, in the last few years, I became fully qualified as a personal trainer while also studying and competing in Mixed Martial Arts. During that time I did a lot of work in construction to make extra money and I found myself standing in the local shop every day looking at the SAME boring processed meal deals, wishing I could just have a healthy, substantial meal to fuel me up at lunchtime.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands, preparing my own meals the night before to heat up at work, every day I would get comments about how my lunch smelled and what I had that day, to the point where I started bringing in portions for my colleagues to try. This is where I saw the gap in the market, Busy people who don’t have the time, energy or maybe even the knowledge to cook healthy protein-rich food to carry them through the week at work.

I have always had a passion for travelling the world, trying new food, Sports and Helping people.

So for me, it was a no-brainer, I decided to make it my mission to bring these flavours from around the world to people’s doors while making them healthy, leaving you feeling FUELLED up for the day not bogged down, bloated or guilty.

Having Taiwanese, Italian and English family I did not want to be tied down to one genre of food hence the name East Meets West.

Our ethos is to bring people healthy new flavours with a home-cook feel that doesn’t leave you feeling bloated or guilty like most takeaway food. Just because you didn’t have time or energy to cook doesn’t mean you should have to put up with that. Food should be Fuel, not a burden.
